The Silver Beaver Award is the highest honor a local council can bestow upon a volunteer in Scouting America. Established in 1931, this prestigious award recognizes adult leaders who have made a lasting impact on the lives of youth through their dedicated service and leadership in Scouting at the council level.
Recipients are selected based on their outstanding contributions to Scouting, including mentorship, leadership, and community impact. Honorees receive a silver beaver emblem suspended from a blue and white ribbon, a certificate of recognition, a square knot for their uniform, and a lapel pin to symbolize their achievement.
