Jay Garee has served as the Scout Executive and Chief Executive Officer of the Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America since July 2017.
Prior to joining the Daniel Webster Council, he served the Theodore Roosevelt Council in Nassau County on Long Island, NY from 2012-2017. Garee was also Scout executive and chief executive officer of the Mohegan Council in Worcester, Massachusetts from 2005-2011. He has also held executive positions with the former Boston Minuteman Council in Boston, Massachusetts, and the former Finger Lakes Council in Geneva, NY.
Garee has provided leadership to several organizations and associations beyond scouting, including the Partnership for a Drug Free New Hampshire, a former member of the P.R.A.Y. publishing endowment committee. He is a Past President of the Worcester Rotary club in Massachusetts and is a graduate of Leadership, NH. Jay is an Eagle Scout and a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow and is the proud father of two boys who are both Scouts – Owen and Connor.

Deric Wertz is the Chief Operating Officer of the Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America, which serves over 6,400 young people and more than 3,000 adult volunteers in the state of New Hampshire.
During his career of more than 20 years, he has proven to be a visionary and innovative leader capable of making sound business decisions with the ability to provide strong staff leadership, financial development, balance substantial budgets, and expand outreach to emerging markets.
Deric is an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, National Camping School Trained, Certified Exploring Executive, Registered STEM Scout Executive, recipient of the Lutheran Living Faith Award, and Rotarian. He is a native of South-Central Pennsylvania and a graduate of Lebanon Valley College. Deric resides in Manchester, NH with his wife Kimberly and their rescue dog, Mickey. Deric is an avid hiker and enjoys playing golf when time allows.

Certainly no stranger to the Daniel Webster Council, Dawna Wolfson brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in community relationships, volunteer support, fundraising, and development. With her extensive background in non-profit leadership, Dawna has demonstrated a keen ability to forge meaningful partnerships and secure critical resources to support an organization’s growth and impact.
Before recently serving in her District volunteer capacity in the Daniel Webster Council, Dawna served the Boy Scouts of America as District Director in the Monterey Bay Council in California. She was also the Membership and Marketing Director for the Girl Scouts of Swift Water Council before their merger as the Green and White Mountain Council, now serving Vermont and New Hampshire.

In his role as Director of Marketing & Communications, Tyler Yankey is responsible for guiding the Council’s marketing and communications strategies. He previously served as the Daniel Webster Council’s Field Director from January 2019 until February 2024.
Tyler’s professional journey began in 2009 when he joined the Minsi Trails Council in Allentown, PA, as a Quality Unit Executive. His tenure there saw him advancing to positions of District Executive and then Senior District Executive. By 2014, Tyler’s leadership skills earned him a promotion to District Director at the Washington Crossing Council in Doylestown, PA, and in 2016, he further ascended to the role of Director of Program and Marketing for the same council.
A Louisville, KY native and proud graduate of the University of Louisville, he currently resides in Manchester, NH with his wife, Allison, and their dog, Oliver. Beyond his professional and volunteer endeavors, Tyler is an enthusiastic competitive gamer and enjoys the challenge and relaxation of playing golf in his free time.

Rick Poulack, a graduate of St. Anselm College, joins us with a diverse background in non-profit leadership. His dedication to fostering collaboration and empowering teams while serving youth has led to significant achievements in his previous roles at Northeast Family Services and Easter Seals in NH. Rick’s leadership and vision will be invaluable in ensuring that our units are well-supported and equipped to deliver exceptional service to our community.

David Southwick is a distinguished professional with a background in maintenance and engineering, whose career began in the United States Navy in 1997. David is an Eagle Scout and brings a wealth of Scouting experience with him. He currently serves as a Cubmaster for Pack 33 in Jaffrey, NH, he is Wood Badge trained, a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, and a Founder’s Award recipient from Nisqually Lodge in the Pacific Harbors Council.
With his extensive background in leadership and Scouting, David has demonstrated a keen ability to forge meaningful relationships and provide leadership to support an organization’s growth and impact.Before joining the Daniel Webster Council team, David served as the Mainteance Supervisor at Genesis Healthcare/Pheasant Wood Center. David holds an Associate in Science degree in Information Technology from Southern New Hampshire University and is an active member of the American Legion.

John grew up in New Hampshire and is an Eagle Scout from Troop 23 of Strafford. He brings a wealth of Scouting experience with him. Serving in multiple program and commissioner staff roles at Camp Carpenter for seven seasons. Additionally, he is a three-time course staff member and a graduate of NYLT. John has also been active in the Order of the Arrow. Serving as Passaconaway Lodge Chief for three years. He received the Vigil Honor and the Founder’s Award for his contributions to the organization.
Before joining the Daniel Webster Council Team, John worked for Fischer Skis US in the Service Department, supporting skiers, shops, and sales operations across the country. He is a Pro Division member of the National Ski Patrol, where he is certified as an Outdoor Emergency Care Technician (OEC). Patrolling part-time as a member of the Gunstock Ski Patrol. John holds an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Great Bay Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Entrepreneurship from the University of New Hampshire.
John’s extensive background in outdoor recreation, leadership, and Scouting makes him a valuable addition to the Daniel Webster Council team. He is committed to working with Scouts and Scouters across the Council to create a new vision for our organization’s growth and impact in delivering the mission to New Hampshire youth and families.
