Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT) Refresher

If you’re looking to take the refresher course for your S.A.F.E.Guarding Youth Training, the course can be a bit tricky to find. Here’s the most straightforward way to do it.

• Log into My.Scouting as you normally would
• Click on the “My Training” button in the blue box
• At the top of the page, you’ll see your Safeguarding Youth Training Status
• Click on the “Retake Course” link and that will take you to the refresher course

Some things to note

• This refresher course can be taken any time before your certification expires AND UP TO 7 DAYS AFTER EXPIRATION. After 7 days, you will be required to take the full course.
• You must pass the test after the refresher course. If you do not, you will be required to take the full (90 minute) course in order to regain your certification.
• Failure to keep your SYT status current will result in the suspension of your membership, until such time as the training is brough up-to-date.

Oh, and while you’re logged into My.Scouting, check that your email address is current. You can find and update it on the “My Profile” button that’s above the “My Training” button. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the email address. Having a current email address will ensure that you’ll receive notices that your SYT and Hazardous Weather training is expiring.
