Supplemental Training

Throughout the year, Scouting America New Hampshire offers additional trainings to support your role as a volunteer. These courses are designed to help Scouters with a particular skill or to enhance their Scouting role. From CPR & First Aid training to Wood Badge training, we have something for everyone!

Fundamentals of Training

Fundamentals Part 1: Science of Training. This course is designed to help Scouts and Scouters, regardless of their training experience, identify effective training methods for a variety of purposes. It will help freshen up the skills of current Scouting America trainers, as well. The skills and strategies presented here have been shown to improve teaching and learning—and will be of value to you, not only in your role in Scouting, but also in the ways that you communicate with others.

Fundamentals Part 2: Craft of Training. This course is the second part of the train-the-trainer continuum. As trainers develop their training skills, this course provides an opportunity for trainers to practice and refine their abilities through experiential learning, paired with feedback from faculty members and peers. This course also supplements the training development sessions offered during faculty development for advanced leadership training courses.

Cold Weather Leader Training

The goal of the CWLT program is to instruct you on how to see low temperatures as an opportunity, not a barrier, to turn a 3-season camper into a year-round camper and how to take it back to your Troops, Districts, and Councils.

Safeguarding Youth Training

True youth protection can be achieved only through the focused commitment of everyone in Scouting. It is the mission of Youth Protection volunteers and professionals to work within Scouting America to maintain a culture of Youth Protection awareness and safety at the national, territory, council, district, and unit levels.

Chartered Organization Representative Training

At the end of this session, participants will be able to
• Understand the mission of Scouting America.
• Be familiar with the purpose of Scouting America.
• Understand the structure of the Scouting America.
• Know what programs and what ages are involved.
• Understand the “whole Scouting family.”
