The Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America has announced this year’s annual Distinguished Citizen Award in support of scouting will be presented to an entire industry – to recognize the contributions of all of our NH Hospitals and the Health Care Heroes working there. Our 2021 program will honor their service, sacrifice, and courage throughout the pandemic!

As you may know, the Boy Scouts of America have been developing exceptional leaders and inspiring Scouts to “Help Other People at All Times” for over a century – 111 years to be exact. The Scouts were incredibly supportive of the hospitals this year with their “Scouts Support Hospitals initiative, and they recognize the exceptional leadership shown by New Hampshire’s hospitals and Health Care Heroes over the past 18 months.

The award itself holds significant distinction in New Hampshire and is an incredibly high honor to those notable businesses and individuals who have received it in the past.  For nearly five decades, a distinguished individual along with, in more recent years, a community business, were recognized for their citizenship and leadership at an annual Daniel Webster Council event.

However, this is the first time that an entire industry has been recognized. What better time than now to recognize our Health Care Heroes for the work they all do each and every day in our NH Hospitals?

Many of today’s Health Care Heroes are Scout parents, volunteers, or former Scouts in their youth. Through that experience, some learned basic first aid skills through Scouting, and today are now on the front line responding to the needs of thousands.
