Jackson E. Gaylord, Jr. is a 41 year veteran in the Boy Scouts of America.  His Scouting experience started with joining Cub Scouts and earning all ranks to include the Arrow of Light award with Pack 169, Richmond, Virginia.  He transitioned and joined Troop 727, Richmond, Virginia, where he earned his Eagle Scout rank, youth religious award, and held various youth leadership positions.  As a Boy Scout, Jack became a very active member of the Order of the Arrow, Nawakwa Lodge, serving in various leadership positions culminating as the Lodge Chief.  He was honored in receiving the Vigil Honor.  He served on summer camp staff for 4 years and attended various leadership conferences with the Order of the Arrow.

After graduating from the University of Richmond, Richmond, Virginia and receiving his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army in May 1977, Jack continued his scouting experiences serving as a volunteer Scouter in various leadership positions during his military career.  He served as assistant scoutmaster, unit commissioner, assistant district commissioner, trainer, training committee chair, and Cub Scout roundtable commissioner.  He attended and completed Wood Badge training and served on Wood Badge Staff.  Jack received various adult leadership training awards and recognitions to include the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award.

After a very successful military career and upon retirement from the United States Army in March 1995, Jack joined the ranks of professional scouting.  His initial assignment sent him to Transatlantic Council, Europe where he served as a District Executive.  Receiving a promotion to Senior District Executive in 1998, Jack continued to serve in Transatlantic Council providing leadership in Germany and Switzerland.    His duties included serving as a camp director in Germany and Switzerland for 7 years, staff advisor for Wood Badge, staff advisor for Junior Leader Training Course, staff advisor for the Order of the Arrow, and other functional assignments.

In January 2003 Jack returned to the United States and accepted an assignment with the Daniel Webster Council serving as a District Director providing leadership for Arrowhead District and Mt Monadnock District.  In July 2005 Jack was promoted to Field Director with the Daniel Webster Council where he currently serves providing leadership and management to five of the nine traditional districts.  He serves as the Day Camp Staff Advisor and advisor to other functional assignments.

Jack is a graduate of the University of Richmond, Richmond, Virginia, graduate of various military training courses to include the United States Army Logistics Executive Development Course, Command and General Staff College, and various leadership and executive level management courses. As a professional Scouter, Jack has completed Professional Development I-III, People Management I and II, and National Camping School with certification as a Boy Scout camp director and Cub Scout Day Camp manager.

Jack is married to Janet George Gaylord of 29 years and they reside in Merrimack, NH.  They have two grown daughters, Megan who is married and resides in Memphis, TN and Keely who resides in West Lafayette, Indiana.
