For eight weeks every summer, Camp Bell offers a unique camping experience to Boy Scout Troops from New Hampshire and around the country that are ready for the challenge of classic Scouting. Camp Bell is part of Griswold Scout Reservation and is located in Gilmanton Iron Works, New Hampshire. Troops attending Camp Bell work on strengthening their patrol structure through patrol cooking and day-long patrol activities. Many program areas are built around a 1910 theme, focusing on Scout skills and the outdoor lives lived by people almost a century ago. Camp Bell also offers high adventure opportunities to patrols ranging from indoor and outdoor rock climbing to waterskiing, tubing, and sailing. General Information Program Areas Forms Online Registration History The Daniel Webster Council purchased and opened Camp Manning in June 1925. It was operated until 1946 when Camp Carpenter became the official Boy Scout Camp of the council. It was re-acquired in 1991 to add to the Griswold Scout Reservation. The addition of Camp Bell to the Reservation is the result of increased attendance in the Daniel Webster Council camps and a desire to provide new and exciting experiences to Scouts. Camp Bell opened for its first summer of operation in June 2000, exactly seventy-five years after Camp Manning was opened in the same location.
