May 6, 2017 @ 8:30 am - May 7, 2017 @ 12:00 pm

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills provides the hands-on training portion of the skills for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters. Together with the Scoutmaster/ASM Position-Specific Training, these classes are required for Scoutmasters and ASMs to be fully “trained”.

This is a one-night overnight course. Fees include meals and materials. Participants are required to bring their own personal gear (tents and sleeping bags).
The course starts Saturday morning at9AM sharp and ends prior to noon on Sunday.  Please plan to arrive on early on Saturday to get out to Sunapee camp site.  We welcome participants to come out Friday nite.

WHO:  Adult, direct contact leaders (Asst. Scoutmasters) who are not yet fully TRAINED!  Adult leaders are considered fully TRAINED when they have completed:

> Youth Protection Training (online)
> Boy Scout Leader Specific Training
> Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS)

WHAT:  Before the weekend of the training on you’ll be assigned to a patrol. Together, you’ll plan your meals, buy your grub and work out logistics for gear. You’ll choose a patrol name and cheer, make a flag, and get to know your new patrol mates prior to your arrival at the course:  just like your Scouts do.  Then when you arrive on Saturday (or Friday), you will become a new Scout and go through all the requirements that our Scouts must meet:  fire starting, first aid, flags, knots, knives, animals, tents, cooking, gear, and more!!
